On
Wednesday, the Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, expressed his
interest
in working with the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, as the Senate
President in the upcoming 10th National Assembly. After holding a 30-minute
closed-door meeting with Tinubu in Abuja, Senator Kalu spoke with reporters
about his candidacy.
The
former Governor of Abia State stated that he believes he is the best candidate
for the Senate Presidency due to his ability to unite Nigeria and work
alongside Tinubu for the betterment of the country. He emphasized that his
meeting with Tinubu was to officially welcome him back from a successful
vacation in Paris, France and to congratulate him on his return.
During
his celebration of Mass for his 63rd birthday, Senator Kalu had made a
statement assuring Nigerians that Tinubu was in good health and would return
soon. He was pleased to see his prediction come true and emphasized Tinubu’s
fitness and readiness to lead Nigeria. Kalu expressed his willingness to
support Tinubu in the task ahead and highlighted his own integrity, honesty,
and experience as reasons why he is the best candidate for the position.
Senator
Kalu is among the senators who have publicly declared their interest in the
Senate Presidency for the 10th National Assembly. His meeting with Tinubu and
his declaration of candidacy indicate that he is serious about pursuing this
position and working to unite Nigeria and promote the best interests of the
country.
