The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognised a new National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), aligning with a faction backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The electoral body confirmed the development on Monday by updating its official website to reflect the party’s newly constituted leadership.
At the helm of the list is Abdulrahman Mohammed, who emerges as National Chairman, alongside Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary. Both officials were selected during the PDP National Convention held Sunday night at the velodrome of the National Stadium in Abuja.
The convention saw members of the NWC re-elected through a consensus arrangement following the dissolution of the party’s national caretaker committee.
Other key appointments in the newly recognised leadership include Aaron Chukwuemeka as Deputy National Chairman (South) and Yusufu Akirikwen as Deputy National Chairman (North). Kolawale Olabisi was named Deputy National Secretary, while Odeyemi Oladiran and Lado Marke were appointed National Treasurer and Deputy National Treasurer, respectively.
Additional roles include Eyim Henry as National Financial Secretary and Grema Kyari as his deputy, alongside Umar Bature as National Organising Secretary with Efere Augustine serving as deputy.
Jungudo Mohammed takes on the role of National Publicity Secretary, assisted by Egwu Chidiebere, while Kamaldeen Ajibade was named National Legal Adviser with Aloysius Uba as deputy.
The list also features Osuoha Donatus as National Auditor and Adaba Seri Yatu as Deputy National Auditor. Ogunshe Adedayo was appointed National Women Leader, with Hauwa Shinge as deputy, while Ibrahim Aboki and Momoh Bashir assume positions as National Youth Leader and Deputy National Youth Leader, respectively.
INEC’s recognition of the new leadership is expected to shape internal dynamics within the PDP, as party stakeholders react to the outcome of the convention and its implications for the opposition’s future direction.
