Hon.
Ekene Abubakar Adams, a member of the House of Representatives representing
Chikun/Kajuru
Federal Constituency on the platform of the Labour Party (LP),
made a significant contribution to his constituency by donating 10 500 KVA
transformers, cars, and motorcycles to communities and individuals.
Additionally, he empowered the 66 wives of ward chairmen from Chikun/Kajuru,
regardless of their political affiliations with the Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), or LP, providing each of them with a
sum of N150,000. The 66 ward chairmen also received undisclosed amounts of
money.
During
a conversation with journalists at the event, Hon. Ekene clarified that this
gesture was not a constituency project but a personal initiative. He explained
that he decided to undertake this project after receiving complaints from
various communities during his campaign, particularly regarding the issue of
inadequate power supply. He had promised to assist them, and now he was fulfilling
that promise.
Emphasizing
his role as a philanthropist turned politician, Hon. Ekene expressed his belief
in positively impacting people’s lives and pledged to do more for the
constituents as long as they supported his representation. When asked about his
decision to empower members of other political parties, he stated that it was
essential to include everyone as a leader. He believed that once everyone was
carried along, opposition forces would be less likely to hinder progress.
However, if he were to act alone, he would likely face challenges from opposing
parties.
Hon.
Ekene also declared his commitment to building upon the achievements of his
predecessor, Rt. Hon. Umar Yakubu Barde, while addressing any shortcomings. He
expressed his intention to meet with Barde to discuss any pending projects, and
with permission, he would ensure their completion.
The
chief of Kufana Kajuru LGA, Titus Dauda, spoke on behalf of the royal fathers,
commending Hon. Ekene for his historic actions and his efforts to touch the
lives of people regardless of their political affiliations. He emphasized that
such inclusive governance, devoid of political party or religious bias, had
been absent in the past years in Chikun/Kajuru. The royal fathers pledged their
hundred percent support to ensure his success in his endeavors.
