The Kenya Police Service is in the final stages of extraditing Nadeem Anjarwalla, the fugitive Binance executive who escaped from custody in Nigeria, according to exclusive sources.
Anjarwalla, serving as the regional manager for Binance in Africa, was located in Kenya in April through a joint operation involving the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Nigeria Police Force, and the Kenya Police Service.
He had fled lawful custody in Nigeria in March and was discovered to have used a smuggled Kenyan passport, as per a statement from the Office of the National Security Adviser led by Nuhu Ribadu.
Sources within the government, speaking on condition of anonymity, verified that Anjarwalla has been detained by Kenyan authorities. They expect his extradition to Nigeria to occur within the week. The arrest and the ensuing extradition process were initiated based on an INTERPOL-approved extradition request from Nigeria in collaboration with the EFCC.
An unnamed government source commented, “Binance executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla, has been arrested by the Kenya Police Service and will be extradited to Nigeria this week by INTERPOL.” Another source echoed this sentiment, highlighting Anjarwalla’s imminent extradition.
Reports had previously indicated that the Federal Government had traced Anjarwalla to Kenya following his escape from Nigerian custody. In light of this, the EFCC, INTERPOL, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Kenyan Police Service have ramped up discussions to expedite Anjarwalla’s extradition.
A prior report had revealed that Anjarwalla had immediately gone into hiding upon his arrival in Kenya, a cover that has now been compromised.
