Alhassan Doguwa, the representative for Doguwa/Tundun Wada Federal Constituency in Kano, has refuted allegations made by Yusuf Galambi, a member of the opposition New Nigeria Peoples Party, regarding President Bola Tinubu’s presentation of the 2023 budget to lawmakers. Galambi had asserted on BBC Hausa that the budget document provided by Tinubu during the Wednesday presentation was empty.
Addressing journalists, Doguwa dismissed these claims, stating that the legislators had received the complete budget submissions from President Tinubu before his address at the joint session. Doguwa revealed, “What people don’t know is that President Tinubu had since submitted a flash drive of the whole budget before his presentation to the joint chambers.”
Refuting the notion of an empty document, Doguwa clarified that Tinubu followed the customary practice of providing hard copies of his speech along with a flash drive containing soft copies of the complete appropriation bill and estimates.
Describing the allegations as “baseless” and “unfounded,” Doguwa called for an end to the deliberate misrepresentation of facts surrounding the budget presentation. He emphasized, “Stop the misrepresentation of facts, we did not receive empty 2024 budget boxes from President Tinubu.”
