Premier League champions Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Dutch international Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan in a deal worth £46.3 million ($62.4 million). The 26-year-old midfielder joins the Etihad on a five-year contract, becoming the club’s fourth new arrival in a busy week of summer transfer activity.
Reijnders, who impressed at AC Milan with 15 goals during the 2024/25 season, is expected to play a key role in strengthening Pep Guardiola’s midfield following the recent departure of Kevin De Bruyne. Known for his composure, work rate, and creativity, Reijnders is set to provide fresh dynamism to the City engine room.
“I am ecstatic to be signing for Manchester City,” Reijnders said in his first interview as a City player. “This is one of the biggest clubs in the world, with the best coach, world-class players, and incredible facilities. It’s a dream to be part of this environment.”
Reijnders’ arrival follows a flurry of signings by the Premier League giants. Earlier in the week, City secured the services of midfielder Rayan Cherki from Lyon and goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea, while left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri joined from Wolves on Monday.
City’s Director of Football, Hugo Viana, praised the acquisition: “Tijjani arrives here with a wealth of experience at the highest level, both with AC Milan and the Dutch national team. He brings extra energy, composure, and creativity to our midfield. We believe working under Pep and alongside this group of players will elevate his game even further.”
The signing underscores Manchester City’s intent to maintain their dominance both domestically and in Europe, with Reijnders set to link up with his new teammates for pre-season training later this month.
