The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the growing coalition within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing its leading members as politically ineffective despite their high-profile backgrounds.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the ruling party has no reason to feel threatened by the opposition alliance, insisting it lacks the strength to pose a credible challenge.
Morka specifically mentioned prominent figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, and Rauf Aregbesola, arguing that while they may have held significant positions in the past, their current political relevance is limited.
According to him, the coalition’s combined influence falls short of expectations, adding that their presence has yet to translate into meaningful political impact.
He also rejected allegations by the ADC that the APC is interfering in its internal affairs, challenging the opposition party to provide evidence to support such claims. Morka maintained that the APC remains confident in its electoral strength, citing its continued success at the polls since 2023.
The APC spokesperson further attributed the ADC’s internal challenges to what he described as self-inflicted problems, suggesting that the party’s leadership struggles are a result of poor internal management rather than external interference.
In his remarks, Morka extended criticism to other opposition figures, including Peter Obi, accusing them of moving between political parties and contributing to instability within opposition ranks.
The comments come amid an ongoing leadership dispute within the ADC, following the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw recognition of a faction led by David Mark.
