The National Hospital Abuja has issued a statement to clarify the circumstances surrounding the medical care provided to popular Nigerian actor Zack Orji. Contrary to earlier reports, the hospital stated that the decision to transfer the ailing actor to a private hospital was made by his relatives against medical advice.
Zack Orji was admitted to the National Hospital Abuja on New Year’s Eve, and upon arrival, he was promptly stabilized in the intensive care unit (ICU) in preparation for a planned brain surgery by the hospital’s surgeons. However, the hospital’s official statement, as conveyed by spokesman Tayo Haastrup, explained that the actor’s relatives signed a “Leaving Against Medical Advice” form on January 1, 2024.
The hospital’s account emphasized that the actor’s transfer to a private hospital disrupted the medical preparations made by the National Hospital Abuja for his surgery. The statement clarified the situation, stating, “Nevertheless, the Management of National Hospital Abuja wishes him a speedy recovery.”
This clarification aims to address a publication that erroneously suggested that the National Hospital referred Zack Orji to a private hospital. The hospital’s statement underscores its commitment to providing quality medical care and expresses well-wishes for the actor’s recovery.
