The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted more than 14,440 kilograms of skunk and other illicit substances across six states, while also arresting a wanted drug baron during a series of coordinated operations.
The largest seizure was made on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, when operatives uncovered 11,135kg of processed skunk inside the Orita-Apeje and Araromi-Okeodo forest reserve in Ife South LGA, Osun State, following days of surveillance. Two trucks used for trafficking—a Volvo (WWR 29 XA) and a Mercedes (AWK 713 YZ)—were impounded and seven suspects arrested.
Additional seizures were made across Edo, Ogun, Taraba, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Lagos, and Kwara states, leading to the arrests of multiple suspects and recovery of drugs including Canadian Loud, Ghana Loud, methamphetamine, tramadol capsules, and other illicit consignments.
In what the agency described as a major breakthrough, its Special Operations Unit arrested a wanted Lagos-based drug syndicate leader, Frank Chijioke Ibemesi, also known as Chisco Bee, at a hotel in Isolo. A raid on his warehouse uncovered 1,762.8kg of Loud, along with foreign currencies including $11,600, £2,000, €2,200, and 50 Canadian dollars.
The NDLEA also continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation campaigns in schools, worship centres, workplaces, and communities across multiple states.
Chairman/Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), commended the operatives and urged them to sustain their momentum through both enforcement and community-based prevention strategies.
