Ned Nwoko Narrowly Avoids Tragedy on Titanic Submarine, Mourns Loss of Friend

Senator Ned Munir Nwoko of the People’s Democratic Party
(PDP) representing Delta North, expressed

deep sorrow and shock over the
untimely death of his close friend and business partner, Hermish Harding.
Taking to his official Instagram account, Senator Nwoko mourned the passing of
Harding and conveyed his profound grief.

The tragic demise of Hermish Harding occurred during a
perilous submarine expedition to explore the ruins of the legendary Titanic
ship. Reflecting on their shared experiences, Senator Nwoko revealed that he
and Harding had embarked on an expedition to Antarctica together in 2020. This
dangerous journey had forged a strong bond between them.

In his heartfelt tribute, Senator Nwoko shared, “I have
lost a very dear friend and business partner, Captain Hermish Harding. We ventured
into the treacherous terrain of Southpole Antarctica a few years ago. He was a
remarkable gulf stream pilot, renowned for his Guinness World Record-breaking
circumnavigation of the Earth. He fearlessly descended into the Mariana Trench
and even extended an invitation for me to join his space shuttle last year.
Unfortunately, due to my national obligations, I could not participate in this
ill-fated Titanic expedition. Moreover, he was an invaluable collaborator in
our various endeavors to combat malaria in Africa. He was always passionate
about our research and provided unwavering support whenever possible.”

Senator Nwoko further revealed that he had received a message
from Harding just the previous Sunday, expressing their readiness to dive to
the Titanic wreckage, contingent upon favorable weather conditions. Harding’s
profound love for adventure and his indomitable spirit to face challenges were
evident throughout his life. The Senator’s heart ached for Harding’s beloved
wife and children, who had become dear family friends over the years. The void
left by his passing and his wealth of experience would be sorely missed.

Tragically, the ill-fated Titanic expedition claimed the
lives of Hermish Harding and four others. The casualties included Stockton Rush,
the founder of OceanGate, renowned French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet, Pakistani
businessman Shahzada Dawood, and his 19-year-old son Suleman. Despite days of
extensive search efforts by the United States Coast Guard, the small vessel
transporting them suffered a catastrophic implosion near the site of the
111-year-old Titanic wreckage. Consequently, they were declared deceased,
leaving the world stunned by the tragic turn of events.
