A deadly tanker explosion at Dikko Junction in Gurara Local Government Area, Niger State, has resulted in the deaths of 86 people, according to Abdullahi Baba Arah, Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA).
Arah disclosed on Sunday that 80 victims were interred in a mass grave at the Dikko Primary Health Care premises, while relatives claimed five bodies for private burials. Another victim succumbed to injuries at the healthcare center, bringing the total confirmed fatalities to 86.

The tragedy unfolded when a fuel tanker traveling from Kaduna to Gwagwalada overturned at the junction, spilling its highly flammable contents. Despite warnings to stay away from the accident site, a crowd gathered to scoop the leaking fuel.
In a devastating turn of events, the tanker exploded, causing widespread fatalities, severe injuries, and extensive property damage estimated at millions of naira.
Rescue and Burial Efforts
