Shared by World of Statistics on X, the report indicates that Nigerians spend an average of 3 hours and 23 minutes per day on social media platforms.
Leading the world in social media usage, Kenyans spend the highest average daily time online at 3 hours and 43 minutes. South Africans follow closely with an average of 3 hours and 37 minutes per day, while Brazilians and Filipinos spend 3 hours and 34 minutes and 3 hours and 33 minutes, respectively. Nigeria ranks just below these countries, underscoring the significant role social media plays in daily life across the continent.
Other high-ranking nations for social media usage include Colombia (3 hours 22 minutes), Chile (3 hours 11 minutes), and Indonesia (3 hours 11 minutes). Saudi Arabia and Argentina complete the top ten, with their populations averaging 3 hours and 10 minutes and 3 hours and 8 minutes on social platforms daily.
In contrast, some countries show lower daily averages, with Ghanaians spending about 2 hours and 43 minutes on social media, Egyptians 2 hours and 41 minutes, and Thais 2 hours and 30 minutes. Among European nations, Portugal, Romania, and Italy have even lower averages, at 2 hours and 23 minutes, 2 hours and 20 minutes, and 2 hours and 17 minutes, respectively, highlighting significant regional differences in social media engagement.
