The Chief of Air Staff, Sunday Aneke, has been inducted into the International Honor Roll Class of 2026 by the U.S. Department of the Air Force, marking a significant global recognition of his leadership in air power.
The honour was conferred at Maxwell Air Force Base on April 10, 2026, where top-ranking air force leaders from around the world were celebrated for their distinguished service and contributions to military leadership.
According to a statement by the Nigerian Air Force, the recognition is reserved for senior officers who previously attended the Air War College and later rose to become heads of their respective air forces.
Air Marshal Aneke, a 2016 alumnus of the Air War College at Air University, was inducted alongside 15 other Air Chiefs and two equivalents of Chief Master Sergeants of the Air Force from across the globe.
The induction ceremony formed part of a broader programme highlighting the importance of military education, leadership, and international cooperation among air force leaders. Activities included a reception hosted by Kay Ivey at the Governor’s Mansion, as well as visits to key institutions such as the Alabama Supreme Court, the Air University Library, and the Enlisted Heritage Museum.
The Nigerian Air Force noted that the event underscores the value of global partnerships and professional development in strengthening modern air power leadership.
