The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has fixed Wednesday, January 21, 2026, as the commencement date for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Orientation Course across the country.
The scheme disclosed this in a statement shared on its official X handle on Tuesday, noting that the exercise will take place simultaneously at all 37 NYSC orientation camps nationwide.
According to the statement, camp registration for prospective corps members will run from Wednesday, January 21, to midnight on Friday, January 23, 2026.
It added that the swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Friday, January 23, 2026, while the orientation programme will officially end with a closing ceremony on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
The Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, urged all prospective corps members to travel safely to their states of deployment and cautioned them against embarking on night journeys.
NYSC management also advised corps members to strictly comply with the orientation timetable to ensure a hitch-free exercise.
The three-week orientation course, which forms the foundation of the NYSC programme established in 1973, is designed to promote national unity and integration. During the camp, corps members participate in paramilitary drills, skills acquisition and entrepreneurship training, lectures on national development, and various cultural and social activities aimed at fostering unity across ethnic and religious lines.
