LAGOS — Tragedy struck on Tuesday morning at the bustling Five Star Bus Stop in Oshodi, Lagos, as a road accident involving a commercial bus reportedly left two people feared dead and several others injured.
The exact cause of the crash could not be immediately confirmed. However, eyewitnesses at the scene recounted that the collision was so severe that multiple passengers were trapped inside the vehicle, while others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
When reporters arrived, a large crowd had already converged at the scene. Many bystanders were seen recording the incident with their mobile phones, while tension escalated as an angry mob vandalized parts of the commercial bus in protest over the accident.
Shockingly, no police officers, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officials, or Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) operatives were present at the time to restore order or assist with rescue efforts.
The incident caused a massive traffic jam along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, with stranded motorists stuck for hours as the road remained blocked.
As of the time of filing this report, the authorities had yet to release an official statement regarding the crash or confirm the exact number of casualties.
