People Magazine has crowned Hollywood actor Patrick Dempsey as this year’s Sexiest Man Alive. Widely recognized for his portrayal of Doctor Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd in the immensely popular TV series “Grey’s Anatomy,” Dempsey, 57, has captivated audiences with his charm and talent.
Aside from his role in “Grey’s Anatomy,” Dempsey has left his mark in Hollywood, starring in films such as ‘Enchanted’ and ‘Made of Honour.’
During an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Dempsey revealed his reaction to the surprising news, stating, “I was completely shocked, and then I started laughing, like, this is a joke, right? I’ve always been the bridesmaid! I’d completely forgotten about it and never even contemplated being in this position. So my ego is good.”
Married to professional makeup artist and beauty mogul Jillian Fink for 24 years, Dempsey and Fink have three children – 16-year-old twins Sullivan and Darby, and Talula, 21.
In an interview with People Magazine, the actor and philanthropist expressed his appreciation for the honor, highlighting the significance of the title. Dempsey emphasized the platform it provides him to channel positivity and contribute to a cause he deeply cares about. He is the founder of the Dempsey Center, an organization that supports cancer patients, established in honor of his mother.
“I’m glad it’s happening at this point in my life. It’s nice to have the recognition, and certainly, my ego takes a little bump, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive,” Dempsey shared in his interview.
This marks Dempsey’s first time being crowned the Sexiest Man Alive, having previously been the runner-up for the title in 2005 and 2006. He now joins the esteemed ranks of former titleholders like Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, Michael B. Jordan, and other heartthrobs.
