The Police Service Commission has announced a new date for the medical screening/examination of candidates applying for recruitment into the constable cadre of the Nigeria Police Force. The screening, initially slated to commence earlier, has been rescheduled to begin on Tuesday, April 16th, 2024.
This adjustment in schedule takes into account the ongoing Muslim Ramadan fast and the Christian lenten period, allowing candidates to fulfill their religious obligations before undergoing the screening process. The screening is expected to last for two weeks, marking the final phase of the recruitment exercise.
According to spokesman Ikechukwu Ani, the medical screening will be conducted across the 17 Zonal Command Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force, as well as in Kaduna, Yobe, and Zamfara states. These states have been given special consideration due to prevailing security challenges, and candidates from these regions will undergo screening in their respective states of origin.
Specialist applicants who previously participated in physical and credentials screenings but were not involved in the JAMB-conducted computer-based tests will also undergo practical tests and medical screening during this period.
Candidates shortlisted for the medical screening will receive detailed information from the Police Recruitment Board regarding the venues and schedules for their screenings. Successful candidates will proceed to Police colleges for mandatory training.
Dr. Solomon Arase, Chairman of the Police Service Commission and National Coordinator of the Recruitment Exercise, expressed satisfaction that the recruitment process is nearing completion. He emphasized the importance of selecting high-caliber individuals who will contribute to enhancing Nigeria’s security architecture.
Dr. Arase commended the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for the success of the computer-based tests and praised their reputation for excellence and reliability in conducting examinations. He reiterated the commitment of the Police Service Commission to ensuring a transparent and rigorous recruitment process to address the nation’s security challenges effectively.
