PORT HARCOURT: The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has confirmed that it is utilizing the authentic Voters Register provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the ongoing local government council elections across the state.
Azunda Fulfill, the Presiding Officer for Unit 8, Ward 3, Isiodu Community in Emohua Local Government Area, emphasized that the process has been smooth and peaceful, with no reported issues so far. Speaking on the use of the voter register, Fulfill assured that the register being used is the same as the one deployed during the 2023 general elections, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
“The process is going fine. People are voting, and there are no problems so far. The voter register we are using is the same as the one from the 2023 elections. The voters’ cards and the register tally. It is the correct voter register,” Fulfill stated.
In Emohua LGA’s Unit 26, Ward 4, where Senator Andrew Uchendu casts his vote, the electoral process has also proceeded without significant issues, with voting continuing smoothly.
Meanwhile, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, the Chairmanship Candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Hon. Chijioke Ihunwo, cast his vote at Unit 40. Despite heightened anticipation around the elections, Ihunwo expressed satisfaction with the ongoing process in his constituency.
The Rivers LG election has drawn attention for its competitive nature and widespread participation, with RSIEC assuring voters of a transparent and fair process through the use of INEC’s official voter database.
