Abdullahi Bichi, the recently dismissed Secretary to the Kano State Government (SSG), has threatened to expose betrayals within the state’s political circles, hinting at serious internal conflicts within the ruling party. In a video that has gone viral on social media, Bichi vowed to reveal the treachery of certain unnamed individuals using what he described as damning evidence.
Speaking to his supporters in the video, Bichi said he has both written and recorded evidence to back his claims, promising to shed light on the actions of those he accuses of betrayal at the “appropriate time.”
“I’m happy that I have finished my tenure in peace,” he said. “As you know, this is not the best time to talk, but at the appropriate time we will expose them so that people will understand the kind of people they are.
“They are not trustworthy people… They’re very deceptive. They don’t know anything except treachery and betrayal. They are not people to be trusted. We have documented everything from written to audio and video evidence.”
Political Turmoil in Kano
Bichi’s dismissal by Governor Abba Yusuf has fueled speculation about a growing rift within the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano State. Alongside Bichi, the governor also sacked the Chief of Staff, Shehu Sagagi, and five commissioners in what some have described as a political shake-up aimed at consolidating power.
The government, however, claimed that Bichi’s removal was for health reasons. This explanation has been met with skepticism by political analysts and party insiders, who believe the move is tied to ongoing power struggles within the party.
Allegations of Power Struggle
Before his removal, Bichi was reportedly linked to a faction advocating for Governor Yusuf to assert more control over the state government, allegedly in opposition to the influence of his political mentor and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The alleged factional struggle is said to center around who holds the reins of power in Kano—the governor or Kwankwaso, who is considered the political godfather of the NNPP in the state.
Bichi has repeatedly denied any involvement in efforts to undermine Kwankwaso’s influence, stating that his loyalty to the party and its leadership remains intact.
Fallout from the Sackings
The removal of high-ranking officials has sparked debates about the stability of the NNPP government in Kano. Observers note that the ongoing political infighting could impact the administration’s ability to deliver on its campaign promises.
Political analysts also warn that Bichi’s threat to expose betrayals could cause further rifts within the party, potentially destabilizing the government’s hold on Kano State.
Public Reaction
The video of Bichi’s statement has generated widespread reactions on social media, with many Kano residents expressing curiosity about the alleged betrayals he plans to expose. Others have called for caution, urging political actors in the state to focus on governance rather than internal conflicts.
As the situation unfolds, all eyes will be on Bichi’s next move and whether he will follow through on his threat to reveal the alleged treachery within Kano’s political scene.
