Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has publicly endorsed his deputy, Obafemi Kadri Hamzat, as the preferred candidate for the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The endorsement, announced on Monday at the State House in Marina, follows extensive consultations by Hamzat with influential party stakeholders, including Femi Gbajabiamila, Wale Edun, and Tokunbo Abiru, as well as members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC).
Speaking at the meeting, Sanwo-Olu described Hamzat as capable and adequately prepared to govern Lagos State, citing his experience and deep understanding of the state’s administrative and developmental framework. He added that Hamzat is well-positioned to sustain ongoing initiatives and drive further progress.
In his response, Hamzat expressed appreciation for the endorsement and reaffirmed his commitment to continuity in governance. He pledged to build on the achievements of the current administration while prioritizing service delivery to residents.
The development is expected to significantly influence the APC’s internal dynamics and shape the party’s governorship race in Lagos ahead of the 2027 elections.
