As Edo State prepares for the inauguration of Governor-elect Monday Okpebholo, Dr. Sunnie Aleghe, a renowned security expert and Executive President of Klass Security Group, has called for collective support and actionable contributions to drive rapid development under the new administration.
Addressing journalists at a press conference held on Saturday at the Klass Group headquarters in Magodo, Lagos, Aleghe outlined his vision for Edo’s future, emphasizing the importance of uniting behind Okpebholo’s leadership. He stressed that a collaborative approach would be essential in addressing the state’s pressing challenges and promoting sustainable growth.
Highlighting the significance of engaging the state’s youth, Aleghe proposed an ambitious program aimed at equipping young Edo citizens with vocational skills through online classes. “We need to invest in our young talent, fostering skills that are in line with emerging economic demands,” he said, underscoring the potential for technology to drive creativity and economic progress across key sectors.
Reflecting on the election’s divisive nature, Aleghe urged citizens to set aside political differences for the greater good. “It’s time to bridge our divides and work together as one state, unified in purpose to support our incoming governor,” he remarked. Aleghe encouraged citizens to rally around Okpebholo’s leadership, noting that unity would be crucial to accelerating development initiatives and attracting investments.
In a series of recommendations, Aleghe outlined key focus areas for Okpebholo’s administration, advocating for a strategic emphasis on security, education, healthcare, agriculture, digital transformation, and women’s empowerment. These sectors, he explained, would serve as catalysts for job creation, economic diversification, and improved quality of life.
“Edo has immense potential to attract institutional investors,” Aleghe added, emphasizing the need to address foundational security and economic issues to create a more business-friendly environment. He further suggested that Okpebholo enlist a diligent team to execute his vision of a modern, prosperous Edo, grounded in the goals he communicated to the public during his campaign.
Additionally, Aleghe proposed an inclusive governance model that involves Edo’s traditional and religious institutions in promoting social harmony. “The governor should engage these institutions to foster tolerance and bridge divides among our diverse communities,” he stated, noting that such efforts would strengthen community cohesion and reinforce trust in the administration.
He also recommended the formation of an advisory think-tank to offer policy insights and assist in designing a sustainable development framework that aligns with Okpebholo’s vision. This think-tank, Aleghe suggested, would enable continuous improvement by identifying governance inefficiencies and shaping long-term strategies for growth.
Dr. Aleghe concluded with an optimistic outlook for Edo’s future, expressing confidence that under Okpebholo’s leadership, the state would experience transformative progress that uplifts its people and strengthens its economy.
