Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, APC, Ekiti Central, has expressed profound shock and grief over the death of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who represented Anambra South and served as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream). Senator Ubah, also the Chief Executive Officer of Capital Oil and Gas, passed away recently, leaving a significant void in both the Senate and his community.
In a statement released by his Directorate of Media and Public Affairs on Saturday, Bamidele hailed Senator Ubah as a philanthropist, an oil magnate, and a dedicated legislator passionate about the development of his constituents, both young and old.
Bamidele emphasized that the South-East region has lost an illustrious and determined son, citing Ubah’s unwavering commitment to the development of Anambra and the broader South-East geopolitical zone. He highlighted Ubah’s efforts to combat insecurity in his senatorial district by mobilizing vigilante groups to protect the community.
“I received the news of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s passing with grief and sadness. Until his death, he was a prominent businessman, founder of the Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation, CEO of Capital Oil and Gas, and most importantly, a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Bamidele stated.
“He was passionate about the development and liberation of his people from poverty and penury. An astute business tycoon, he had a profound influence on younger and future generations. He shared his political aspirations and plans for Anambra State and the South-East with me. While we were looking forward to the realization of his vision, God Almighty, the Owner of Earth and Heaven, took him away. To God, the time is right; to us, we are in pain. We cannot question His Maker for calling him home at a time he was still pursuing greater good for his constituents.”
Bamidele attested to the quality of Senator Ubah’s contributions to nation-building, highlighting how he collaborated with colleagues across ethnic, political, and religious lines to strengthen the federation.
In his statement, Bamidele extended his condolences to the people and Government of Anambra State, noting that Senator Ubah would be dearly missed by his colleagues for his willingness to support progressive causes and pro-people legislative interventions.
