Prominent entrepreneur and socialite Obi Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana, has officially taken up the role of South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement.
The Anambra-born businessman confirmed his appointment on Tuesday after receiving his letter from Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, during a visit to his residence on Monday night.
Sharing the development via Instagram, Iyiegbu said the meeting also provided an opportunity for wide-ranging discussions on national issues.
“Last night, my long-time friend and brother, Seyi Tinubu, paid me a visit at my home. We held great conversations about everything,” he wrote.
Addressing public reactions to his new political engagement, Iyiegbu defended his decision, stressing that meaningful change can only be achieved through active participation.
“I’m fully aware of the varied reactions it has sparked. My belief remains firm: lasting change comes from constructive engagement, not standing apart,” he said.
He further declared his commitment to the movement, describing himself as fully aligned with its ideals.
“I’ve learned that influence is limited from the outside — so yes, here we are! I am a City Boy through and through, inside and out,” he added.
Iyiegbu assured supporters that his appointment would not compromise his personal values, leadership principles, or community service efforts. He described President Tinubu as “a City Boy and a man of commerce,” noting that inclusiveness would remain central to his role.
“All of us need all of us in order to achieve our national aspirations, and I am committed to carrying every Nigerian along in all that I do,” he stated.
He also called on Nigerians to embrace tolerance and mutual respect, urging citizens to remain focused on national development.
“Let’s respect differing views, keep conversations vibrant, and stay focused on building real value. The moment is now — we move!” Iyiegbu said.
The businessman concluded by thanking supporters for their goodwill and reaffirmed his commitment to working toward a more inclusive future.
