The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, winner of the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election.
Announcing the results on Sunday at the INEC headquarters in Awka, the Returning Officer, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, confirmed that Soludo polled 422,664 votes, securing victory in all 21 local government areas of the state.
His closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), garnered 99,445 votes, while Sir Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) came third with 37,753 votes.
According to INEC figures, 2,788,864 voters were registered for the poll, with 598,229 accredited voters. A total of 595,298 votes were cast, out of which 11,244 were rejected.
Prof. Omoregie noted that although isolated incidents led to vote cancellations in parts of Anambra West, Anaocha, Awka South, and Onitsha South LGAs — totaling 10,481 affected votes — they did not alter the overall outcome of the election.
Declaring the results, Omoregie said,
“Having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of valid votes cast, I, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, Returning Officer for the 2025 Anambra Governorship Election, hereby declare Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance winner and returned elected.”
INEC described the exercise as peaceful and credible, with high voter turnout across several polling units.
With this victory, Soludo secures a fresh mandate to continue his administration’s developmental agenda in Anambra State.
