The youth wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Taraba State has called for a three-day period of prayers and fasting, starting Monday, due to the ongoing drought affecting the region. The prolonged absence of rainfall has severely impacted agricultural activities, with crops beginning to wither, sparking concerns among the local farming communities.
In a statement issued on Sunday by Ephesian Jesse, the state chairman of the CAN Youth Wing, the group emphasized the urgency of the situation, urging Christian youths across Taraba to join the spiritual exercise. Jesse explained that the fasting and prayers are aimed at seeking divine intervention for rainfall, which is crucial to saving the crops and preventing further agricultural losses.
The statement also urged participants to pray for the well-being and guidance of Taraba’s Governor, Agbu Kefas, and his family, asking for divine protection and wisdom as they continue to lead the state. The CAN youth leadership believes that this collective spiritual effort is necessary to address any wrongs that may have led to the current dry spell and to restore balance in the state’s climate.
The call to prayer reflects the deep-rooted belief in the power of faith to bring about change, especially in times of crisis, as the community seeks a solution to the agricultural challenges posed by the lack of rainfall.
