A 37-year-old Nigerian, Ademola Oke, has been found dead at his workplace in the United Kingdom, marking the third reported death involving a Nigerian national in the country this April.
Details of the incident emerged through a fundraising appeal launched on GoFundMe by a family friend, Adejonwo Odutola, who disclosed that Oke died suddenly on April 18.
According to the appeal, the deceased had left home that morning in good health and maintained contact with his wife throughout the day, showing no signs of illness. However, he was later discovered unresponsive at his workplace by a colleague who arrived for a night shift.
Emergency services were immediately contacted, but Oke was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sudden loss has left his 31-year-old wife grieving and solely responsible for their two young children, aged six and two. Odutola described the late Oke as a devoted husband and father, noting that his death has deeply affected family and friends.
The fundraising initiative aims to assist with funeral expenses and provide financial support for the children as the family navigates the aftermath of the tragedy. Supporters have also been encouraged to share the appeal and keep the family in their thoughts during the difficult period.
As of the time of reporting, £4,509 had been raised toward an £8,000 target.
Oke’s death is the latest in a series of similar incidents involving Nigerians in the UK this month. Earlier reports indicated that a Nigerian mother of three recently died after battling cancer, while another Nigerian man, identified as Herbert, was found dead in his apartment in Thornaby after reportedly passing in his sleep.
The recent cases have sparked concern within the Nigerian community in the UK, with calls for increased awareness and support for affected families.
