President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a nationwide distribution of rice to support Nigerians observing the Ramadan and Lent fasting seasons.
The initiative will see rice distributed across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory through the network of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA).
Governor of Imo State and Director-General of the group, Hope Uzodimma, disclosed the directive in a statement issued over the weekend.
Uzodimma said the programme is designed to support families during the religious period while promoting unity and compassion among Nigerians.
According to him, the distribution will be coordinated through the grassroots structures of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors across states, local governments and wards to ensure the intervention reaches households nationwide.
He noted that the initiative reflects the administration’s effort to assist citizens during important religious and cultural observances.
The governor also recalled that a similar intervention was carried out during the last Christmas season, when rice was distributed to help Nigerians celebrate the festive period.
Uzodimma stated that both Muslim and Christian communities are expected to benefit from the current distribution programme.
“This initiative reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to unity and compassion. Ramadan and Lent are seasons that remind us of sacrifice, charity and care for one another,” he said.
He added that the nationwide distribution underscores the administration’s focus on inclusivity, solidarity and shared national values.
The rice distribution is expected to be implemented through the state, local government and ward structures of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to ensure wide coverage and transparency across the country.
