Iranian media reported on Monday that the head of intelligence for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has been killed in what authorities described as a “terrorist attack” carried out by the United States and Israel.
According to statements cited by state-affiliated outlets, Majid Khademi died following a targeted strike, marking the latest high-profile casualty linked to ongoing hostilities involving Iran, the U.S., and Israel.
Khademi, who assumed the role in 2025 after his predecessor was killed in Israeli airstrikes, had spent decades working in intelligence and counter-espionage. His career spanned several senior roles within Iran’s security structure.
Before becoming head of the IRGC’s intelligence arm, he led the Intelligence Protection Organisation, a unit responsible for internal surveillance and counter-intelligence operations. He also held key positions within Iran’s defence ministry.
The IRGC intelligence division is considered one of the country’s most powerful security bodies, playing a central role in monitoring domestic activities and countering what Iranian authorities describe as foreign influence. It often operates alongside, and sometimes independently of, the civilian intelligence ministry.
The reported killing underscores escalating tensions in the region, with repeated strikes targeting senior Iranian figures in recent months.
