Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has seen a 25% reduction in his market value, now standing at €75 million following his loan move from Napoli to Turkish giants Galatasaray. This marks a significant drop from his previous valuation of €100 million, but interest from top European clubs, including Chelsea, remains strong.
According to Transfermarkt’s latest update, Osimhen’s market value has taken a hit due to his transfer situation and the league’s status. However, the Nigerian international believes that his true worth exceeds the current valuation. “I am worth more than €100 million,” Osimhen confidently stated. “There are few players like me in the world who have achieved this style and success.”
Osimhen’s move to Galatasaray, which set a record as the most valuable player transfer in Turkish Süper Lig history, followed a series of failed transfers. Napoli had initially set a €130 million price tag, which proved too steep for potential buyers, including Chelsea and clubs from Saudi Arabia. Galatasaray eventually capitalized on the situation and secured his services on loan.
Gökhan Yagmur, Türkiye Area Manager for Transfermarkt, commented on the valuation drop, explaining that it was influenced by the transfer to the Turkish league, which is seen as less competitive compared to the top European leagues. “Osimhen is an exception in Turkish football. Napoli’s high asking price deterred top clubs, and Galatasaray seized the opportunity,” Yagmur noted.
Despite the decrease in market value, Osimhen’s performances at Galatasaray have been impressive, with two goals and two assists in his first five matches. His strong start has kept interest high from clubs like Chelsea, who are closely monitoring his progress for a potential future move.
Though his market value may have dipped, Osimhen remains confident in his abilities and is determined to prove that he’s worth more than the numbers currently suggest.
