Former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has dismissed rumours circulating on social media suggesting he had passed away, insisting that he remains alive, healthy, and in high spirits.
In a statement shared on his verified Facebook page on Friday, Obiano assured Anambra citizens and supporters that there was no truth to the speculation, describing it as false, unfounded, and deliberately misleading.
“My beloved Ndi Anambra, friends, and well-wishers, let me assure you personally that I am alive, hale, hearty, and in excellent health,” he wrote, adding that he was “doing very well by the special grace of God.”
Obiano expressed disappointment that such rumours were being spread without reason, stating that some individuals seemed to derive satisfaction from promoting misinformation. He, however, stressed that he remains focused and unshaken.
The former governor also appreciated those who contacted him with concern, prayers, and support, noting that their goodwill meant a great deal to him. He urged the public to ignore the false reports entirely, reaffirming his gratitude to God and his supporters.
The clarification follows previous confirmations by other prominent individuals, including Ogilisi-Igbo and Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu Jr, who also stated that Obiano is alive and well.
