The excitement is not exclusive to Davido, as fellow Nigerian artists Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Asake, and Olamide have also clinched nominations for the prestigious 66th Grammy Awards.
The Grammy-winning sensation, Burna Boy, leads the pack with a remarkable four nominations, while Davido, in his inaugural Grammy appearance, has been honored with three nominations. Asake, Arya Starr, and Olamide each received one nomination, collectively marking a significant recognition of Nigerian talent on the global stage.
All five Nigerian artists find themselves vying for the coveted Grammy in the inaugural Best African Music Performance category, sharing the spotlight with South Africa’s Tyla. The nominees in this newly established category include Asake and Olamide’s ‘Amapiano,’ Burna Boy’s ‘City Boys,’ Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush,’ Davido and Musa Keys’ ‘Unavailable,’ and Tyla’s ‘Water.’
Burna Boy’s musical prowess extends beyond the Best African Music Performance category, with additional nominations for ‘Sitting On Top of the World’ featuring 21 Savage in the Best Melodic Rap category, ‘I Told Them’ in the Best Global Music Album category, and ‘Alone’ in the Best Global Music Performance category.
Davido’s recognition goes beyond the Best African Music Performance category as well, with nominations for ‘Timeless’ in the Best Global Music Album category and ‘Feel’ in the Best Global Music Performance category.
