Nigeria’s culinary star Hilda Baci has received glowing commendation from the Federal Government as she embarks on an ambitious bid to set a new Guinness World Records title for cooking the largest pot of jollof rice.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, through the Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), Olalekan Fadolapo, lauded Baci’s courage and innovation during the official flag-off of the attempt at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos on Friday.
Baci, who rose to international prominence in 2023 after her 93-hour cooking marathon earned her global acclaim, is now attempting to cook an enormous batch of jollof rice using a specially engineered six-metre pot.
Minister Idris described the record bid as a shining symbol of Nigerian creativity and resilience. He praised Baci’s commitment to excellence, noting her attention to hygiene, organisation, and precision as hallmarks of the professionalism Nigerians are known for worldwide.
Thousands of enthusiastic fans gathered at the venue to witness the history-making effort. Addressing the crowd, Idris urged the nation’s youth to draw inspiration from Baci’s discipline and determination, encouraging them to pursue ventures that contribute both to their personal growth and the development of the country.
Speaking on behalf of Bola Tinubu, the Minister wished Baci success, declaring that her victory would be celebrated as a collective national triumph. He further assured that the Federal Government would continue to support creative and innovative projects that showcase Nigeria’s rich culture, talents, and global potential.
