A fuel-laden tanker overturned in the Ojuelegba area of Lagos State on Friday, leading to a chaotic scene as residents hurried to collect fuel in various containers. The incident, captured in a video shared by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on its social media account, showed a crowd of Lagosians scrambling to scoop fuel from the overturned tanker.
Despite the alarming situation, LASTMA reported that there were no fatalities resulting from the accident. Emergency services confirmed that no casualties were recorded, and efforts are underway to clear the area and manage the aftermath of the incident.
“The tanker overturned at Dormanlong bridge inward Fadeyi,” LASTMA stated. “The Lagos Response Unit (LRU) has been contacted for evacuation, and officers are on the ground managing the situation.”
As of the time of filing this report, there is no update on whether the tanker has been successfully removed from the scene.
