During his media tour
for his new album ‘Timeless’ in the United States, Nigerian
afrobeat superstar
David Adeleke, also known as Davido, revealed that he spent a whopping $2
million, which is almost one billion naira, on his third studio album ‘A Better
Time’. Speaking on the Ebro in the Morning Show on Hot 97FM in New York, the
popular singer explained that the staggering amount covered various aspects of
the album, including features, videos, and promotions.
Davido went on to
compare the amount he spent on ‘A Better Time’ to his current album,
‘Timeless’, stating that he spent more money on the former but has already made
more money from it. He added that he has not even spent up to $300k on
‘Timeless’ yet has made more money in just three days, which, according to him,
demonstrates the tremendous growth of African music.
Davido’s third studio
album ‘A Better Time’ was released in 2020 and features prominent American
musicians such as Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Young Thug, Lil Baby, and Summer
Walker. The album’s success can be attributed to its outstanding production
quality, exceptional features, and extensive promotions.
