A popular
Instagram cloth vendor based in Ibadan, Adeshina Olayinka, known as Khadi,
was
found dead under mysterious circumstances at Wetland Hotel in Akobo, Ibadan,
Oyo State. According to PUNCH Metro, the man she was with checked out of the
hotel early on Thursday morning, and Olayinka was found dead later.
The police
have taken the prime suspect in the case into custody. Our correspondent
discovered that the suspect voluntarily turned himself in to the police at
Akobo Police Division after hearing that the police needed his attention in
connection with Olayinka’s death. He is presently in the custody of the State
Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Iyaganku, Ibadan.
When our
correspondent visited the hotel, the manager and supervisor were unavailable,
but a staff member, who wished to remain anonymous, disclosed that they were
unaware of Olayinka’s condition until noon check-out time, when a receptionist
reported that Olayinka had borrowed a power bank from her. The staff member
also said that they immediately called the police when they realized that
Olayinka was still breathing but died before getting to the hospital.
The suspect
was informed of the incident and subsequently presented himself to the police.
He has since been arrested, and the case has been transferred to the SCID. The
hotel management issued a press statement expressing their condolences and
cooperation with the police in the investigation. The Police Public Relations
Officer, Adewale Osifeso, stated that investigations were ongoing, and updates
would be provided as necessary.
