NDLEA Files Forfeiture Suit Against Pretty Mike’s Nightclub Over Lagos Drug Party

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has filed a forfeiture suit against Proxy Night Club, a popular Lagos entertainment hub owned by socialite Mike Nwogu, widely known as Pretty Mike, following a major drug party raid that led to multiple arrests and the seizure of illicit substances.

The NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.), made this disclosure on Tuesday during the agency’s annual commendation and award ceremony held in Abuja. The event also saw the decoration of 15 senior officers with new ranks and recognition of personnel for exceptional performance.

The forfeiture move comes after NDLEA operatives raided the Proxy Night Club, located at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, between 11 p.m. on Saturday and 3 a.m. on Sunday, following intelligence reports about a “drug party” being openly promoted by the club’s organisers.

According to the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, undercover officers had infiltrated the club and monitored activities for four hours before storming the premises. During the operation, over 100 attendees, including Pretty Mike and his club manager, Joachin Milary, were arrested.

Babafemi revealed that operatives recovered 384.886 kilograms of Canadian Loud — a potent strain of cannabis — alongside other illicit substances from the club’s storage area.

Speaking on the development, Gen. Marwa condemned what he described as a “brazen culture of impunity” among some entertainment operators who promote drug use as part of nightlife.

“In Nigeria, the possession and use of drugs in persons or premises is illegal. It is against the law, and we are the agency to enforce that law,” Marwa declared. “We will not allow a culture of impunity such as this to evolve. If you allow one, in two or three weeks every nightclub in the country will start hosting drug parties. We will not allow it.”

He confirmed that the NDLEA has initiated legal proceedings to seize the nightclub, citing its use for criminal drug activities. Marwa warned other entertainment venue owners, hoteliers, and facility managers nationwide to ensure their properties are not used for similar offences or risk forfeiture.

“All club owners, hoteliers, and the like should know that the risk is the forfeiture of their properties if they are used for drug-related crimes. We will definitely make an example with this particular club in Lagos,” he added.

Marwa also presented the NDLEA’s performance record over the past 30 months, highlighting the agency’s aggressive push against both drug supply and demand.

He stated that the NDLEA has recorded 45,853 arrests, 9,263 convictions, and seized over 8.5 million kilogrammes of assorted illicit drugs. Additionally, 26,613 drug users have been counselled and rehabilitated through the agency’s nationwide treatment facilities, while 9,848 War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation campaigns were conducted across schools, churches, mosques, markets, and workplaces.

The NDLEA boss commended officers for their bravery and discipline, noting that the agency’s robust reward and recognition system has helped strengthen morale and enhance operational efficiency.

“Our personnel continue to perform their duties under immense risks and temptations, yet their commitment to Nigeria’s safety remains unwavering. Their courage deserves national applause,” Marwa said.

The case against Pretty Mike’s nightclub is now before a Federal High Court in Lagos, where the NDLEA seeks to permanently forfeit the property to the Federal Government.
