Portable, a controversial hip hop artiste
whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola, has expressed that he has learned his
lesson after being released from Ilaro Prison in Ogun
State on Monday. Daily
Trust reported that he had been remanded pending the perfection of his bail
conditions by a magistrate’s court sitting in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun
state. He was facing a five-count charge of assault and stealing, following a
petition written against him by one Osimusi Emmanuel, and had been detained
since Friday.
When he appeared before the court on Monday,
Portable pleaded not guilty to all charges. His counsel, Adodo Destiny,
requested that the court grant him bail, and Magistrate A.S. Soneye
subsequently granted him bail with a bail bond of N300,000 and two sureties who
must reside within the jurisdiction of the court. However, the court ruled that
he be transferred to the Ilaro correctional centre until his bail requirements
were met. The trial was adjourned to the 26th of April.
After his release,
Portable was captured in a widely circulated video, surrounded by his loved
ones in a car, expressing that he had learned a lesson, saying “Akoi
grace. I have learnt a lesson. I have learnt a real lesson.”
