President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on the occasion of his 60th birthday, describing the milestone as a celebration of leadership, loyalty, and continued service to Nigeria’s commercial hub.
The congratulatory message was conveyed in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by Presidential spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, a longtime political protégé of Tinubu, has risen through the ranks to become the sixth democratically elected governor of Lagos State. Before assuming office, he served in various high-level roles, including Managing Director of the Lagos State Property Development Corporation, and held commissioner positions in the ministries of Economic Planning and Budget, Commerce and Industry, and Establishments, Training and Pensions.
President Tinubu praised Sanwo-Olu’s steadfast commitment to advancing the developmental master plan first introduced during Tinubu’s own tenure as Lagos governor from 1999 to 2007.
“Your execution of this vision is demonstrated by key accomplishments such as the completion of the Blue and Red Rail lines and the ongoing preparations for the Purple Line, which will serve the crucial Lekki corridor,” the President said.
Highlighting future priorities, Tinubu urged the governor to maintain the pace of progress and focus on critical infrastructure projects that would have a direct impact on the lives of Lagosians.
“I urge you to sustain this trajectory by prioritising impactful projects, particularly the long-anticipated Fourth Mainland Bridge and the Freedom Way to Victoria Garden City (VGC) Road,” he stated.
The president expressed his confidence in Sanwo-Olu’s ability to continue delivering results and wished him continued good health, long life, and more years of service.
“I also wish you continued good health, longevity, and many more years of invaluable service to Lagos State and Nigeria,” Tinubu added.
