In response to the escalating multi-front conflict involving Gaza militants, Romania and Hungary have undertaken a coordinated effort to evacuate their citizens from Israel, as announced by the Romanian Foreign Ministry on Monday.
A total of 245 individuals were safely transported from Israel to Romania, facilitated by four separate flights. Among these flights, two were operated by the state-owned airline TAROM, while the other two were conducted by private airlines. Notably, the evacuees included two groups of pilgrims.
Simultaneously, Hungary took swift action to evacuate its citizens, with 215 Hungarian nationals airlifted out of Tel Aviv using two military planes. These evacuations were prompted by the significant attack by Hamas militants on Israel.
Upon landing at Budapest airport on Monday morning, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó shared the successful completion of this mission on his Facebook page. The two Airbus A319 aircraft utilized in the operation had been designated as standby resources by the Hungarian government, underscoring their commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of their citizens in the face of the ongoing turmoil in the region.
