Nigerian entertainer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has sparked controversy following his recent loss in a celebrity boxing match, accusing fellow artist Portable of using traditional charms—commonly referred to as juju—to gain an unfair advantage in the ring.
The dramatic bout was part of the ‘Chaos In The Ring’ boxing event held on Saturday, a spectacle organized by Game Rush and Balmoral Promotions. The show continues a trend of blending entertainment and combat sports, following previous editions, including the popular Friday Fight Night introduced earlier this year.
In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), Speed Darlington claimed that his shoulder became dislocated during the match under mysterious circumstances, alleging that it wasn’t due to fatigue or physical blows. Instead, he suggested that Portable may have resorted to metaphysical tactics to secure his win.
“I wasn’t even tired. My body just stopped working right—this is not ordinary,” he said in the video, insinuating that juju was at play.
Portable, born Badmus Okikiola, was declared the winner of the high-energy match, which has since gone viral across social media platforms. While the singer has not officially responded to the accusations, his camp has dismissed the claims as baseless and unserious.
The match followed weeks of brewing tension between the two, reportedly ignited after Speed Darlington offered Portable ₦500,000 for a performance appearance—an offer the Zazu crooner allegedly deemed insulting.
As reactions continue to pour in from fans and observers, the controversy has only added more drama to Nigeria’s fast-evolving celebrity boxing scene. Whether Speed Darlington’s claims lead to any formal complaint or investigation remains to be seen.
